Child Nutrition Assistant

Position Title: Child Nutrition Assistant Reports to: Principal Department: Cafeteria Position Category: Permanent/exempt/part-time/10 month contract Position Summary: The Child Nutrition Assistant performs semi-skilled and unskilled tasks necessary for the preparation and serving of meals and the operation and care of school cafeteria. Job Scope: This position has no direct supervisory authority Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare and serve food Operate standard commercial kitchen equipment Properly store and handle food items and supplies Maintain a clean and organized storage area Create and maintain positive communication with students, administration, staff, and faculty Demonstrate a high level of flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes Meet all standards of local, state and federal health and National School Lunch Program (NSLP) regulations Meet all dress code standards set forth in employee guidelines Maintain regular attendance Promote FWAFA in a positive manner within the school and community Perform other duties as assigned Mental Demands/Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Computer, kitchen utensils, standard cafeteria equipment Posture: Prolonged standing, infrequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Frequent walking Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 25 pounds) Environment: Work is located on campus site in a cafeteria; regular exposure to noise Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours Minimum Education, Experience and Certification: High School Diploma or Equivalent required Certified Texas Food Handler License required Skills and Capabilities Knowledge of food handler safety Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and appliances used in food preparation Basic Math skills Ability to carry out written and oral instructions; Ability to trouble-shoot and problem-solve Previous experience in food service Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
