DescriptionReports to: Director of Therapy Services Status: PRN Pay Rate: TBD based on experience Exempt, Level II Shift: Day Shift Purpose and Scope: The Physical Therapist is responsible to provide day-to-day therapy treatments and evaluation of resident's needs. The Physical Therapist is a role model of customer service principals and consistently monitors and implements quality improvement efforts. The Physical Therapist ensures that the department functions according to accepted community quality standards, policies and procedures. This position assumes responsibility for the Director of Therapy Services in his/her absence as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrate an understanding and puts into practice person - centered philosophy by entering into a relationship with their residents, families and staff where the goal is to provide a comfortable and home - like environment and the relationship develops into a meaningful and satisfying one for all involved. Personnel Management: Accountable for monitoring Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides for compliance with all aspects of human resource management per community policy and procedure at a community level. Carries out supervisory responsibility for Therapy Assistants and Therapy Aides in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws at a community level. Recognizes when written and oral disciplinary actions are needed and informs the DTS immediately. Responsibilities include assisting in training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; contributing to performance appraisals as directed; addressing complaints and solving problems at a departmental level. Areas of accountability include but are not limited to: Promote a positive, calm and effective work environment throughout the unit that contributes to staff recruitment, retention, and reduces turnover to insure consistent staff. Performs work efficiently to contribute to productivity for rehab specific discipline at minimum standard 80% to support cost effective delivery of care Contribute to successful resident centered teams, continually improving quality outcomes through the interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance internal and external customer satisfaction. Physical Therapist commitment to the team and collaboration will be furthered evidenced by personal communication style and professional behavior that support the CQI philosophy of the community. Resident Care Management: Accountable for optimal customer satisfaction by providing quality rehab treatments, that comply with all regulatory and licensure laws and in a cost efficient manner. Areas of accountability include but are not limited to: Direct and participate in the day-to-day therapy treatment and evaluative needs of the resident and is an active member of the resident care team to continuously improve the care and service systems within the community. Provide for the delivery of therapy in accordance with state licensure laws. Complies with state, federal, and community guidelines that govern the nursing community to appropriately provide care. Complete or ensure completion of required forms that enhance operations and accountability. Identify resident care problems and contributes to the interdisciplinary care plan to insure quality care and customer satisfaction Ensure that Physical Therapy needs are communicated to Physical Therapy staff to ensure quality care. Ensure that treatments are administered and documented in order to comply with state and federal guidelines and community policies and procedures. Communicate significant changes in a resident's condition to designated individual therefore contributing to the care service system in the community. Provide service in accordance with staff scheduling system to permit responsible use of the rehab resources. Is a positive representative of the community at all times to support the vision and mission of the community. Is respectful, pleasant, and courteous in all interactions with residents, families, staff and visitors to enhance customer satisfaction. Consistently responds to the needs and concerns of residents, families, staff and visitors in a problem-solving manner. Respond to call lights when on the nursing unit to enhance customer satisfaction. Complete treatment and billing logs accurately and appropriately to provide correct billing information. Participate in the QAPI process to meet the expectations of our customers. Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner to prevent injury. Follow established guidelines when using physical restraints, protective devices and equipment to provide quality care. Demonstrate awareness of potential hazards and reports unsafe conditions to prevent injury. Demonstrate knowledge of infection control and exposure control in a resident care to prevent the spread of disease and infection. Business Responsibility: Understand basic concepts of financial planning, budgeting, and managing and allocating rehab resources at a community level. Utilize this understanding to choose between two equally acceptable clinical choices. Specific areas of responsibility include but are limited to: Complete the billing process to insure accuracy. Utilize the principals of case management to promote the responsible use of rehab resources. Deliver Part B services to provide necessary quality services. Assist in management of Medicare denials to prevent loss of revenue. Provide accurate and timely rehab data to the organization to enhance our competitive position in terms of cost. Accept and support staff and budgetary constraints to permit the most efficient and responsible use of resources. Actively participates in the Resident Dining Program after completing the Feeding Assistant Training Program unless already licensed or certified in an appropriate field. Customer Service: Demonstrates an understanding and puts into practice excellent customer service. Compliance: Demonstrate commitment to operating in accordance with its mission, vision, and values. HIPAA: Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality. Any and all other duties, as assigned. Requirements and Qualifications: Minimum of Bachelor degree in Physical Therapy Valid license in the state of Pennsylvania evidenced upon hire and throughout employment Two years experience, as a physical therapist in geriatrics or rehabilitative care preferred. Proficient in interpersonal communication and listening skills. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, various online programs, etc.). Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general information in the English language. Ability to walk, lift, bend at knees and waist, stoop, kneel, reach, climb step stool, and stand in place for extended periods. Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds. Ability to push/pull equipment. Due to regulatory requirement by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid services, a COVID-19 vaccination is required and considered a condition of employment. To be eligible for hire with Mt. Macrina Manor, prospective employees must be fully vaccinated at time of orientation. A person is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-shot series, such as the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as the J&J/Janssen vaccine.
