Job Summary: Perform high-quality diagnostic sonography exams to capture detailed images of anatomy and pathology for radiologist interpretation, following established protocols and safety standards. Essential Functions: Conduct various sonography exams including abdomen, breast, renal, obstetric, gynecologic, thyroid, scrotal, venous doppler, limited venous arterial, and prostate, as well as assist radiologists with invasive procedures. Choose appropriate ultrasound equipment and transducers, adjusting settings based on the organ and exam requirements. Record exam data and patient information accurately into ultrasound systems and electronic health records (EHR). Monitor ultrasonic patterns during exams to ensure image quality. Submit diagnostic images and documentation to PACS and other relevant systems. Communicate exam details and instructions clearly to patients, assisting them in positioning. Utilize EHR to track patient check-in, code procedures, and access prior reports. Handle patient and provider communications regarding exam clarifications and preparatory information. Collaborate with supervisors and radiologists to discuss exam results when necessary. Assist with patient transportation as needed. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited sonography program required to qualify for ARDMS certification. Licensure and Certifications: Successful completion of a two-year sonography program. Active American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification in at least one discipline. Current CPR/BLS certification. Experience: Understanding of general anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Familiarity with ultrasound procedures interpreted by radiologists. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and at least one year of sonographer experience. Experience with software such as Stentor, EPIC, Microsoft Office, and internet applications is highly desirable. Professional Requirements: Adhere to regulatory standards and organizational ethics. Maintain punctuality and complete tasks within designated timelines. Communicate courteously and respectfully with patients, guests, and staff.
