Position Type: Security/Crossing Guards/Transportation/Security - Seasonal Date Posted: 2/19/2026 Location: District Wide Closing Date: Until Filled Part-Time Safety OfficerReports To: Director of Safety and Security Purpose The Part-Time Safety Officer monitors activities and promotes a safe, orderly school environment for students, staff, and visitors during after-school hours and weekends in and around school grounds. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification is required Successful completion of FBI and BCI background checks Minimum of three (3) years of prior experience in a school setting or in a role involving safety and security procedures Demonstrated excellent work record, including strong attendance Availability to work part-time hours, including after-school hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Ability to perform all essential job functions Required Probationary Period 105 days Other Requirements Demonstrated maturity, patience, sensitivity, and understanding of students' learning and social needs Ability to exercise sound judgment, resolve conflicts, and interact positively with students, staff, parents, and visitors Good physical and mental health, including the ability to stand and patrol areas for extended periods Neat, professional appearance Essential Duties and Responsibilities Enforce and comply with all East Cleveland City School District policies and procedures Promote a safe, orderly, and positive school climate during after-school and weekend activities Extend courtesy and assistance to parents, visitors, students, and staff Maintain confidentiality of privileged information and respect personal privacy Uphold the Student Code of Conduct and maintain high expectations for student behavior Monitor and direct student movement throughout buildings and school grounds Intervene in physical altercations and apply appropriate restraint techniques when necessary, using sound judgment Secure assigned areas unless otherwise directed Conduct screening and metal detection of students, parents, and visitors as assigned Check identification badges and hall passes; maintain clear hallways and stairways; prevent loitering Assist with emergency procedures, including building evacuations and maintaining clear emergency exits Monitor building surveillance systems to support a safe learning environment Observe and report issues with building equipment or facilities to the Building Administrator or Director of Security Prepare accurate and timely written reports and referrals as required Assist in protecting District property and supervising high-priority common areas (cafeterias, hallways, restrooms, study halls, and during events) Support School District and departmental goals Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Safety and Security or School District Administrator Physical and Mental Requirements Must possess the physical and mental attributes required to perform all essential job functions Terms of Employment Salary Part-time; Per OAPSE Negotiated Agreement primarily after-school hours and weekends, with additional hours as needed (Part-Time Classification) 2025-2026
