Position Type: Administration Date Posted: 1/27/2026 Location: All locations Date Available: 07/01/2026 Closing Date: 03/13/2026 Orleans/Niagara BOCESLabor Relations Specialist/School AttorneyJob Duties and Responsibilities (Illustrative): Perform research and prepare memoranda and analyses regarding a wide array of labor relations, employee relations, personnel/human resources, and education-related issues Serve as chief negotiator or negotiations team member in collective bargaining Prepare documents/contracts/leases Conduct investigations regarding allegations of harassment, employee misconduct, etc. Serve as hearing officer in superintendent's (student discipline) hearings Create outlines and power points and deliver presentations/trainings Make presentations to various audiences on various labor-related topics Review and compare data for labor contracts Prepare and compile comparative data after review of contracts, personnel/human resources policies, etc. Serve as school district/BOCES representative in hearings and proceedings (e.g., grievance proceedings, arbitrations, PERB hearings, Unemployment Insurance hearings, Section 75 hearings, etc.) Provide prompt responses to district inquiries effectively and efficiently Assist in administering collective bargaining agreements, employee contracts, policies, and non-bargaining unit terms and conditions statements Establish and maintain effective professional relationships Serve as legal counsel to the BOCES Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned Job Qualifications: Must be admitted to the New York State Bar and be in good standing. Experience in labor relations, negotiating labor contracts, and familiarity with school/education law, are desirable. Candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills, be detail-oriented and have the ability to demonstrate professional composure and aptitude in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
