Salary : $51,148.45 - $71,970.29 Annually Location : Pompano Beach, FL Job Type: Full time Job Number: 2025-063 Department: Utilities Division: Wastewater Pumping Opening Date: 08/04/2025 Closing Date: Continuous Job Summary This essential role involves advanced mechanical work related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater equipment. Responsibilities include inspecting and repairing pumps, motors, generators, and engines; performing preventive maintenance; keeping detailed repair logs; and ensuring asset reliability. This is an essential position; the incumbent will be required to rotate "call duty", support emergency response, and promote safety, ethical behavior, and excellent customer service. Needs to have an intellectual curiosity and a desire to find answers. Performs related work as required. Duties and ResponsibilitiesInspect, maintain, and repair pumps, motors, engines, and electrical systems. Diagnose operational issues and make necessary adjustments or replacements. Coordinate with vendors and parts suppliers. Maintain detailed inspection and maintenance records. Support asset management and preventive maintenance programs. Respond to emergencies and work extended hours during disasters. Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent. Experience Two years' experience in mechanical repair of electrical motors, pumps, compressors, and related equipment. Experience in operating and driving automotive and other motorized construction/maintenance equipment. Experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater pumping facility and related equipment. Skilled in mechanical work on underground utilities. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Preferred Qualifications Asset management systems Data Flow SCADA Automotive/construction equipment Wastewater pumping facility operations Licenses/Certifications Valid Class "B" CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements (prior to application). FWPCOA Wastewater Collection "C" Certificate (prior to application). Lean Six Sigma White Belt (to be obtained within first year). OSHA confined space training completed. Key Competencies Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written). Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and GIS mapping systems and paper maps. Mechanical aptitude and skilled use of tools. Ability to read and follow instructions and technical documents. Professional and collaborative demeanor. Must comply with OSHA standards as they apply to facial hair and respirators. Physical Requirements Able to pass medical testing for respirator and SCBA use. Comfortable working outdoors in varying environmental conditions. Physically able to lift 50 lbs regularly, and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
