Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your role as an Emergency Department Techretary will be vital in supporting both direct and indirect patient care. This position offers a unique blend of administrative and clinical responsibilities, ensuring smooth unit operations and enhancing patient safety and experience. General Summary The Techretary plays a key role in patient care by assisting licensed nurses and supporting unit functions through various administrative tasks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling. Maintain an organized and efficient work environment. Support unit operations by managing filing, printing, copying, charge entry, and supply orders. Assist with patient room scheduling and maintain unit-specific logs. Prepare patient charts for scanning by labeling forms with identification stickers. Perform limited patient care duties under nurse supervision, such as taking vital signs, glucometer checks, and specimen collection. Collaborate closely with nursing staff to respond promptly to patient needs and enhance care quality. Keep quality logs current and communicate effectively with department management and team members. Answer phones professionally and coordinate with ancillary departments for scheduling tests and procedures. Adapt positively to changes while upholding organizational values and policies. Education High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience At least one year of patient care experience is required. Certifications and Licenses BLS certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory. Basic Arrhythmia Class completion required. Accucheck training required. CNA certification is preferred but not required. Mental and Physical Requirements This role demands constant mental focus, accuracy, and attention to detail. Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 35 lbs, turning, carrying, stooping, twisting, and reaching. Working Conditions Expect a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment with potential exposure to infectious diseases and challenging individuals. The role involves frequent auditory distractions and minimal physical discomfort.
