Overview Job Summary The Surgical Charge Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate financial documentation and charge capture for surgical services. This role supports the financial integrity of the Surgery department by preparing, analyzing, and maintaining records in accordance with established policies and procedures. Responsibilities Charge Capture & Reconciliation Review surgical case documentation to ensure accurate charge entry for procedures, supplies, and implants. Audit and reconcile surgical charges using source data to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly. Financial Record Maintenance Maintain accurate and timely financial records that reflect the operational and financial status of the Surgery department. Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure proper documentation and coding practices. System Proficiency Utilize financial and clinical systems including core transaction platforms, decision support tools, and data warehouses to complete internal and external reporting. Demonstrate proficiency in PC-based financial applications and spreadsheets. Compliance & Reporting Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies related to charge capture and financial reporting. Assist in preparing reports for internal audits, performance tracking, and operational reviews. Goal Achievement Complete assigned goals and projects within established timelines and quality standards. SpecificationsExperience #N/A Minimum Required 3 years of experience in a healthcare surgical setting. Clinical knowledge of basic surgical procedures and supply usage. Preferred/Desired Experience with surgical charge capture, coding, or billing. Familiarity with healthcare financial systems and reporting tools. Education Minimum Required High School Diploma Preferred/Desired Associate Degree Training Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Special Skills Minimum Required Preferred/Desired Licensure Minimum Required Preferred/Desired
