Job Description

MRI Technologist • About Facility: o 457 licensed beds o Trauma Level III o Teaching Hospital o Chest Pain Center o Stroke Center of Excellence o Bariatric Center of Excellence o Facility offers X-Ray, CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine, with Radiology Nursing support o Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit • Department Information: o Average patients/day? 30-40 o Minimum Years of Experience required? 1 year o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Areas served - ED, Inpatient units, Outpatient o Neuro deficit, Acute, Stroke suspected (Brain); Seizures; Prostate Cancer; Diabetic foot; Pancreatic cyst; IBS/Crohn's disease o Department will serve ED, Inpatient, Observation, and Outpatient patients o Department will care for a large population of medical device patients o Will perform cases with anesthesia as needed. o Department does provide cardiac imaging o Department does provide pediatric imaging with and without anesthesia • Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance: o ARRT(R) or NMTCB, ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT o BLS o NC State Licensure is not required • Skills required: o Examines requests and verifies orders on each patient. Questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam or contacts ordering provider when there are discrepancies. o Properly identify (Using two patient identifiers) and assist patients while offering a brief explanation of the procedures. Prepares patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documents. o Interviews patients for a complete medical history. Reviews in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history o Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning of exam until completion of dictated results. o Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols. o Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed. o Performs basic patient care functions. Informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary. o Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures. • Support within the Department: o Guest Services/Transport for Inpatient, Observation, ED patients o Child Life Services to assist with pediatric patients o Tech assistant on overnight shifts • Technology/Equipment: o EMR: EPIC o RIS: Epic Radiant o PACS: Philips iSite o Department specific Equipment: • 1 - GE - 1.5 SIGNA Artist 450W • 1 - Siemens - 3T Skyra • Floating: o none • Orientation (facility and unit): o Administrative onboarding (Epic, eLearnings, policy review, etc.) - 1 day o 2 days to 1 week departmental (as needed) • Scheduling: o Weekend rotation: as needed o No call required o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays o RTO: Manager approval o Shift times: Varies based on requisition o Schedule cycle: every 4 weeks • Other notes: o Scrub Color: Black scrubs o Parking: Free
