Our client is currently seeking a content manager. Job Title: Content Manager Location: Austin, TX Duration: 12+ Months (Contract to Hire) About the Role: This role is a design position within the Brand organization, focused on managing and evolving the visual asset ecosystem-including illustrations, iconography, photography, motion, and AI-generated visuals. It combines design expertise with brand governance and innovation, ensuring all visual assets meet brand standards, are high-quality, and are used responsibly. The role involves setting guidelines, collaborating with creative partners, and leveraging AI as a brand-appropriate accelerator rather than a shortcut. The role blends designer craft, asset management, brand governance, and AI-enabled innovation. This person ensures that all visual assets-whether human-created, vendor-produced, or AI-assisted-are on-brand, high-quality, scalable, and ensures AI is used as a brand-safe accelerator and responsibly activated across channels. What you'll do: 1. Brand Visual Asset Ownership & Oversight Supports the creation, maintenance, and production of exclusive of the client visual asset system across illustration, iconography, visual motifs, and design components. Aid in creative ideation, design iteration, and image design using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and Figma. Defines and maintain brand-approved visual standards, usage guidelines, and evolution paths. Ensures consistency and quality across internally created assets, vendor work, and partner-generated visuals. Act as a visual authority and reviewer, approving assets before they scale across platforms. Collaborate with internal and external content creators on various projects. Manage daily usage rights requests (URRs) to ensure legal and licensing compliance. Maintain the Bynder taxonomy for illustration and icon assets. Organize digital assets and maintain curated collections. Support vendor relationships, including coordinating bids and managing paperwork. 2. AI-Enabled Visual Strategy & Governance Lead the intentional integration of AI tools into the brand's visual ecosystem. Define how, when, and where AI-generated or AI-assisted visuals are appropriate within brand standards. Establish governance frameworks for: AI-generated imagery AI-assisted illustration and icon creation AI-modified or extended visual content Ensure AI outputs are reviewed, refined, and adapted to meet brand quality, accessibility, and compliance standards. 3. Brand-Safe AI Exploration & Enablement Explore emerging AI design capabilities with a brand-first lens, identifying opportunities that enhance speed, flexibility, and creative exploration. Partner with design, UX, brand strategy, legal, and governance teams to ensure AI usage is: Ethically sound Legally compliant Aligned with brand values and visual expression Translate AI experimentation into clear guidance, tools, and workflows for teams. 4. Vendor & Partner Design Leadership Partner with external vendors, illustrators, and agencies to ensure work aligns with brand visual systems. Provide creative direction and guardrails, not just feedback. Review, refine, and approve externally produced assets before they enter the brand ecosystem. Ensure vendors understand how AI is (and is not) used within brand standards. 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Enablement Work closely with Brand, Creative, UX, Digital, and Platform teams to integrate visual assets consistently across channels. Support brand training, office hours, and enablement efforts related to visual systems and AI usage. Act as a bridge between creative craft and scalable systems, helping teams move faster without eroding brand integrity. What you have: To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of /"challenging the status quo,/" this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have. Strong foundation as a designer or art director, with deep understanding of visual systems and brand expression. Demonstrated design leadership-able to set direction, not just execute. Deep familiarity with illustration systems, iconography, and visual language development. Practical understanding of AI design tools and workflows, paired with strong judgment about when not to use them. Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate internally and externally. Solid PowerPoint and Illustrator skills. Comfortable operating in an oversight, governance, and enablement model, not hands-on production all day. Strong collaborator with the ability to influence without direct authority.
