OVERVIEWMerrick & Company is looking for an experienced/senior Process Engineer to join our team in Greenwood Village, CO (Denver metro area). We're seeking candidates who are passionate about nuclear design, enjoy working on a multidisciplinary team, and appreciate the Colorado lifestyle. In this role, you will primarily focus on innovative nuclear and energy projects. Successful candidates will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and designers to deliver high-quality design and engineering solutions. Annual salary range for this position is $120,500 - $162,300. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience. In-office/WFH hybrid schedules are offered. WHAT YOU'LL DOIndependently evaluate and solve complex problems with limited guidance from senior staff. Work with other disciplines to improve accuracy of the deliverables, schedule, and budget commitments. Prepares or oversees process design deliverables including: Process Flow Diagrams Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams Equipment sizing calculations Process line sizing calculations Pressure relief device sizing calculations Mass & energy balances / process simulations Equipment and Instrument datasheets Piping/equipment specifications Interpret customer requirements or code/standard requirements to establish design criteria. Meet with clients to develop relationships. Prepare proposal estimates for design work. Provide in-depth and comprehensive technical peer reviews on design documents in a timely manner. Technical work/documents are mostly error free and demonstrate self-checking of work before submitting documents for peer review. Able to lead process design efforts on projects and be involved in all client meetings pertaining to that project. Determines feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning and other technical and economic factors. Able to perform almost all process design tasks independently. Leading a team of more junior engineers and designers on projects. Act as a formal mentor to more junior engineers. Work in a multi-disciplined design team environment. PE Stamp design documents on projects. Travel to client sites, as needed. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in engineering from A.B.E.T accredited program required. 8+ years of related engineering experience required. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License required, or ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire. Exhibits generally sound technical knowledge to produce design deliverables with minimal guidance from senior engineers. Acquires general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields and ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams. Working knowledge of industry codes and standards. Ability to manage other engineers and designers on concurrent projects. Ability to apply reasoning with minimal supervision. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills with both teammates and clients. Assists with client, vendors or official contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings. Display ability to review technical design documents/packages and be able to identify issues/pitfalls, and actively propose solutions. Provide mentorship to junior engineers. Act as Process Lead on small to medium scale projects. Act as peer reviewer to design documents authored by junior engineers and provide quality engineering reviews. Experience using ChemCad/Aspen/HYSYS (or similar) process simulator and AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow (or similar) for hydraulic pipe flow modeling preferred.
