DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will be responsible for a range of analytical tasks while also executing preventative maintenance and repairs on a varied fleet that encompasses construction machinery, trucks, and gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles. Your duties will include servicing an array of systems, such as hydraulic, electrical, heating, cooling, and exhaust systems, in addition to both manual and automatic transmissions. You will also be tasked with conducting state vehicle inspections for all applicable equipment, ensuring that work orders are completed accurately, and meticulously recording the time allocated to each task. It is crucial to promptly report any incidents or damage to the equipment to maintain operational integrity. To excel in this position, you must possess the ability to identify appropriate repair procedures for heavy machinery and implement necessary mechanical adjustments to ensure optimal performance. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Travel, overtime and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $55,492.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements: Must possess an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed or equivalent. Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of employment. This position requires an active Pennsylvania Class 1, Class 4, or Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment. This position will require employees to pass the Department of Transportation's New Mechanic Training course during the probationary period. Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
