At the Allen County Juvenile Center, you won't be working in a crowded hospital or routine clinic setting. Instead, you'll provide essential medical care to at-risk youth in a secure detention environment - young people who often have limited access to consistent healthcare and need strong, compassionate advocates. Here, your skills do more than treat symptoms. They stabilize lives. What Makes This Role Unique • You serve a vulnerable population that truly depends on you • You build trust with youth who may not have experienced reliable care before • You collaborate closely with physicians, mental health professionals, and court personnel • You practice full-spectrum nursing - assessments, treatment, coordination, education, and emergency response • You go home knowing your work mattered in a very real way This is meaningful, community-impact nursing. What You'll Do • Conduct comprehensive medical assessments for detained youth • Administer medications and treatments • Run daily sick call and respond to urgent care needs • Assist with weekly physician clinic • Coordinate outside medical, dental, and psychiatric care • Communicate with families and facility staff regarding health concerns • Provide First Aid and CPR training to staff • Maintain medical records and health supplies What You Bring • RN license in good standing (Indiana) • Associate Degree in Nursing or higher • At least one year of nursing experience • CPR/First Aid/AED certification • Strong assessment skills and calm decision-making in urgent situations • Compassion, professionalism, and resilience Work Environment This role is based in a secure juvenile detention facility. It requires adaptability, sound judgment, and the ability to work with youth who may be distressed, guarded, or occasionally aggressive - but also deeply in need of stability and care. Schedule 4/2 rotation with varying shifts.
