Sarasota Art Museum is committed to cultivating the next generation of fine art enthusiasts and professionals. Through its Teen Arts Council (SAM TAC), each year SAM selects a dedicated group of local high school students who demonstrate a shared interest in visual art and community engagement. This paid, year-long commitment offers Teen Arts Council Members valuable opportunities to learn about the museum field, develop workplace and team-building skills, and learn about a range of art industry paths. By participating in this program, teens cultivate an appreciation for the visual arts to last a lifetime. Job Description DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Responsibilities may evolve based on organizational needs, and similar or related tasks may be assigned as necessary. Management reserves the right to assign additional duties as required. Participate in all Teen Council planning meetings, events, and activities as a collaborative and creative team member for a 6-week intensive summer program. Be an ambassador for SAM events and programs in their schools and communities. Create a peer network. Represent teens through authentic input in SAM TAC program design and implementation. Curate a Teen Art Show for the Museum's Community Gallery. Develop guided tours for a variety of museum audiences. Attend various SAM activities, engaging in learning activities, and sharing updates and information. Research museum curatorial standards and best practices. Provide friendly, welcoming customer service for museum visitors. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Note: The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are representative but not exhaustive. Candidates may be expected to demonstrate additional competencies relevant to the role. Meeting the listed qualifications does not guarantee job placement or advancement. Strong interest in the arts and humanities. Openness to new ideas & experiences. Willingness to be a spokesperson for SAM TAC. Education and Experience EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Rising high school juniors and seniors that will be enrolled in high school for the 2026 - 2027 year.
