Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Urgent Care is responsible for providing direct patient care that includes, but is not limited to patient assessment and planning, providing treatments, reporting pertinent information to Providers. The RN collaborates with departmental staff to meet optimal patient care outcomes under the guidelines of the California State law defining the Nurse Practice Act. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Obtain complete and accurate vital signs and assist patients to exam rooms. • Document patient vital signs, patient interactions and all other pertinent information in the patient's electronic medical and health record (EMR/HER) in accordance with departmental policies and procedures • Perform procedures as requested on Provider orders within scope of practice. • Monitor and maintain patient flow and room availability. • Reinforce patient education and participate in patient education efforts. • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies in exam rooms, nurse stations and individual work stations. Submit supply orders as needed. • Clean and sterilize instruments, exam rooms and work stations in accordance with departmental policies and procedures • Ensure that departmental equipment is charged and ready for use. Sanitize equipment after patient use. • Perform quality control testing on equipment and inform management of equipment that needs maintenance/repair. • Serve as a resource for departmental stall and assist with departmental orientation and training of new staff • Participate in departmental quality assurance (QA) meetings. • Ensure appropriate handling and accurate documentation of all medications ordered by the Provider. • Respond to all codes timely and within scope of practice to ensure timely intervention. • Remain abreast of referral procedures and workflows and ensure accurate and timely follow through of all referrals generated. • Provide coverage for other clinics within the department as requested. • Utilize universal precautions when providing patient care. • Monitor patient care provided by the licensed vocational nurse (IJVN) and certified medical assistant/medical assistant (CMA/MA). • Ensure that the crash cart is adequately stocked, equipped and readily available. • Administer medication, IV therapy and process blood withdrawals in accordance to scope of practice and departmental policies and procedures. • Review fee tickets for accuracy and completeness. • Perform quality control and proficiency testing as requested. • Serve as point of contact for patient concerns and facilitate resolution whenever possible. Escalate to management as deemed appropriate. • Assist management with morning huddles, daily task assignment and assume a leadership role in emergency situations. • Escalate concerns to management as deemed appropriate. • Perform other duties as assigned. The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $49.00 and $56.00/hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. • Licensure: Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license. • Experience: 1 year of RN experience in a hospital or acute setting, preferred. • Knowledge: Knowledge of California State law defining the Nurse Practice Act. • Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with individuals within all levels of the organization, patients, patient family members, providers, vendors and others. • Skills: Ability to work independently. Ability to utilize critical thinking and judgment to problem solve. • Skills: Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet established deadlines. • BLS : BLS, ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire.
