Responsibilities:Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients. Coach and guide staff in their client practice that reflects these approaches. Ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, occupational health, life safety, and facilities regulations; manage resolution of violations issued by regulatory agencies. Investigate health and safety incidents, including injuries, accidents, and property damage; analyze root causes, severity, and costs; and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Lead and coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries, legal requests, and law enforcement matters related to health, safety, and facility operations, including review of security video footage as needed. Serve as the primary coordinator for emergency response efforts involving fires, power outages, gas leaks, hazardous material exposure, severe weather, and other critical incidents and weather relatedweather-related planning. Provide on-call response to urgent environmental and life safety issues outside of normal business hours and promptly notify senior leadership as required. Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and operations to identify hazards and ensure compliance with environmental and occupational health and safety standards. Develop, implement, and maintain disaster preparedness plans, emergency action plans, site safety plans, and related documentation in alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices in partnership with site leaders Support safety planning for large construction, renovation, and maintenance projects through risk assessments and safety program development. Respond to and investigate employee safety concerns and complaints to identify hazards and recommend mitigation strategies. Advise executive leadership and management on safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance matters. Monitor changes in applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards and integrate requirements into organizational policies and procedures. Develop, coordinate, and deliver safety-related training programs and educational materials to appropriate staff. Act as liaison with regulatory agencies and prepare required reports, documentation, and compliance updates. Develop procedures and metrics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety and risk management programs Maintain regular site presence to assess conditions, understand operational challenges, and build relationships with onsite teams. Qualifications: Required:Bachelor’s degree preferred in safety, engineering, physical sciences, or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in occupational health and safety or a closely related field. Demonstrated experience with emergency response and the ability to maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, health standards and best practices, including 29 CFR 1910, and experience with Workers’ Compensation case management. Familiarity with New York State HERO Act requirements. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical information effectively. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Proven investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including conducting incident investigations and job hazard analyses. Proficiency with current computer and mobile technologies and familiarity with standard safety and health tools used for risk assessment and improvement. Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Valid New York State Driver’s License.
