Food Safety & Quality Technician

FSQ Technician the intent is to convert to full-time on 3rd shift 3rd shift- 11pm - 7am OVERVIEW Reporting directly to Sr. Quality Engineer, this role supports various plant Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) functions to ensure safe and high-quality finished products on 3rd shift. The Avon plant is located just outside of Des Moines, IA, and produces Betty Crocker baking mixes and food service bakery flour. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES • Support Avon's FSQ programs through various analytical testing, physical auditing, verification and administrative duties. • Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and sanitation program compliance through daily and monthly verification and audits. • Support plant HACCP program implementation through record verification. • Partner with operation managers, team leaders and Quality Engineers to support production, decision making, issue management and risk assessment. • Manage hold orders and plant sensory program. • Provide training in the area of food safety, regulatory, sanitation and quality measurement systems to appropriate plant personnel. • Support additional FSRA (Food Safety & Regulatory Assessment) and plant activities as assigned. • Be trained as a primary back-up to the flour lab technician responsible for flour quality monitoring and specification compliance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • High School Diploma/GED • 2-year Associate's Degree (or equivalent work experience) • Analytical lab experience of 1 to 3 years • Bias for action and results • Self-motivated • Demonstrates effective time management, organizational skills, and informed decision making • Provides clear and concise communication • Ability to develop mutual trust with plant employees and be part of constructive, positive change within a plant environment • Computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook) and ability to learn internal computer programs • Willingness and ability to flex work hours as needed and adapt to change job requirements PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's Degree in STEM related field
