Job Description

Position Summary The Facilities Technician will be responsible for general building repairs and property maintenance including, but not limited to, minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs. Provide preventative maintenance and safe operation to all WDDS facilities. Performs exterior building and grounds maintenance, including landscaping and snow removal. Completes installation of household appliances and inspection of properties on a regular basis. While Facilities Technician typically work regularly for eight to five hours, some Facilities Technician jobs may require availability during the weekends and holidays for emergency situations Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Performing basic repairs, preventative maintenance, and construction on buildings, systems, and components Troubleshooting issues with lighting, HVAC systems, and plumbing Diagnosing and troubleshooting maintenance issues Performing minor maintenance on equipment, and preparing equipment for repair or refinishing Enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices Maintaining and cleaning facilities, equipment, and the environment Ensuring office equipment is in good condition by testing and checking for defective components or parts Maintaining an up-to-date inventory of equipment Recording inventory of supplies and materials, and carrying, moving, and delivering supplies and equipment Handling emergency requests for cleaning and maintenance services Communicating with supervisors on the maintenance status of equipment and facilities Complying with health and safety regulations and removing waste from facilities Managing the routine upkeep of outdoor areas, building exteriors, and parking lots Performs all other duties as assigned Experience/Education Required: Minimum of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; College degree, preferred Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and maintain facilities Ability to work in a team and desire to help others Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail Exceptional interpersonal and people skills Ability to maintain the confidentiality and privacy of the building's occupants Excellent time management skills to complete a variety of tasks Ability to interpret maintenance instructions, manuals, safety rules, and other documents DISCLAIMER This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent.
