The unit provides care for a variety of pediatric populations. The number of staff on each shift ranges from 6 to 12. Staff includes a supervisor, team leaders, and specialized respiratory therapists. Patient ratios typically involve 30 to 40 units of therapy per shift. Equipment utilized includes servo U ventilators, Avea ventilators, and various noninvasive respiratory aids. Typical procedures performed include nebulizer therapy, airway clearance, BiPAP, and ventilator management. The best candidates are team players who are flexible and able to work collaboratively. Floating to adult units is voluntary as needed. The dress code requires olive/sage scrub tops and black scrub bottoms. Weekend shifts are required, with at least four shifts per four-week schedule.
