Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic performs assigned general maintenance duties required to maintain and repair the Hospital/LTC facility, machines and equipment involving some skill in carpentry, plumbing, painting and or the mechanical trades. Responsibilities: • Repairs, maintains, and constructs a variety of equipment in an establishment, ensuring that work meets needs. • Repairs, maintains, assembles, and installs a variety of pipes, fittings and fixtures of plumbing and heating systems to ensure that it functions correctly and efficiently. • Sets up and operates machine tools and fits and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools machines, etc. • Repairs, installs, replaces and maintains locking devices, ensuring that equipment functions correctly and efficiently. • Repairs, maintains, replaces and installs motors, machine parts, etc., using brazing and welding equipment to ensure that equipment functions correctly and efficiently. • Lays out jobs, making up rough plans and sketches when needed. • Repairs, replaces, and maintains a variety of mechanical systems and devices to ensure that they function correctly and efficiently. • Maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition. • Requisitions items, supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records. • Recommends new equipment and methods to improve work performance. • Coordinates special projects as directed by Engineering/ Facilities Supervisor and is available for 24-hour emergency maintenance services as scheduled. • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements: Experience: Two years of building maintenance experience required. Hospital/LTC experience preferred. Education: High School Diploma/HS Equivalency Diploma. Licenses / Certifications: N/A
