LIFEGUARD I (SEASONAL) - CENTRAL VALLEY DISTRICT / SAN LUIS RESERVOIR STATE RECREATION AREA / RANCHO SAN LUIS "Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. The reporting location for this position is San Luis Reservoir, Rancho San Luis Sector. This position will work under the supervision of SPPO Chris Jou. This is the entry level for the seasonal lifeguard series. Under supervision, incumbents detect and rescue persons and vessels in distress; take command in emergencies; perform first-aid and resuscitation procedures; notify headquarters of accidents and rescues; prepare reports; remove hazards; assist the public and advise visitors of park rules and regulations. A Lifeguard I (seasonal) learns to operate emergency vehicles, inspect and perform maintenance on emergency rescue equipment and vehicles; and other duties as needed. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. This position requires a valid Class C driver's license. An approved Department of Health Emergency Technician certificate may be substituted for both the required certificates. Annual requalification for the Lifeguard I series consists of a 1,000 yard open water swim, in less than 20 minutes, CPR.AED/CD and Emergency Medical Responder training.
