Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to lead and support nursing staff in delivering exceptional, safe, and high-quality patient care within an intensive care unit setting. This leadership role requires a blend of clinical expertise, interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster a positive work environment. The ANM will oversee daily unit operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while mentoring and guiding the nursing team. Key Responsibilities Maintain a safe, clean, and infection-controlled environment within the unit. Engage with patients and families to uphold service excellence and address concerns promptly. Communicate effectively and professionally, resolving conflicts as they arise. Participate in policy development and decision-making processes to promote evidence-based nursing practices. Ensure accountability for quality, operational, financial, and regulatory performance goals. Advocate for patients by coordinating care across healthcare disciplines and facilitating seamless service integration. Collaborate with various departments to optimize workflow and patient throughput. Assist in recruitment, selection, and retention of nursing personnel, addressing ethical and care standards. Manage staffing schedules, ensuring appropriate personnel utilization based on competencies and patient needs. Lead or participate in quality improvement projects and attend relevant committees. Evaluate staff performance, provide coaching, and conduct appraisals as needed. Contribute to budget development and monitor productivity standards. Promote a healthy work environment that minimizes occupational illness and injury. Commit to ongoing professional growth and development. Demonstrate ability to pronounce expired patients and perform administrative supervisory duties when required. Qualifications Minimum of five years as a Registered Nurse, including at least two years in acute care or a similar setting. At least one year of recent experience in a charge nurse or supervisory role. Strong knowledge of nursing scope of practice, nursing process, and individualized care planning. Ability to independently seek resources and collaborate effectively. Competent in assessing nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families. Proficient with computer systems and adaptable to new software. Capable of providing direct patient care. Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with seven years of RN experience may be considered. Licenses and Certifications Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required. National certification in specialty area preferred. Additional certifications depending on unit assignment, such as ONS chemotherapy & biotherapy provider, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS, and others as applicable. Additional Requirements Successful candidates must pass a physical exam, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
