Status: PRN Shift: Varies Shift Time Schedule: Varies Days: Varies Salary Range : Based on experience, $28.03 -$38.75 plus shift differential and PRN premium Education: Associate or Bachelor's Degreefrom an ARRT approved/accredited program in Radiologic Technology . Certificates/License: Valid, current State of IowaPermit to Practice and ARRT registration in Radiologic Technology. Current BCLS certification. Experience: Hospital based experiencepreferred. This position requires CT experience. Willing to trainthe right candidate. Position Summary: Operates radiologic equipment toproduce radiographs (x-rays) of the human body for diagnostic purposes, asdirected by the Radiologist. Moves x-ray equipment into specified positions andadjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors. Explains procedure topatient to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation. Monitors accessoryequipment and assist the physician special radiographic procedures. Perform thedescribed duties in the primary work area and demonstrate competency in orthopedicradiology, pediatric radiology, trauma radiology and diagnosticradiology. Must be willing to learn CT within 6 months of hire date. Candidatemust be able to staff department independently. Duties Include: Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to assist in providing care appropriate to the age of the patient served (Neonate to Geriatric) within the department (refer to the Scope of Practice and Staffing guidelines in the department Plan of Care) Maintain performance in compliance with State and Federal laws, consistent with high standards of business and professional ethics. Follows Policies and Procedures of Hospital and Department Practice ALARA techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff. Practice good Quality Control Able to perform all types of CT exams proficiently Use of contrast power injector Charge imaging procedures, able to modify orders Understands and uses PACS systems Assist department in developing new protocols and imaging techniques (digital imaging, PACS) for use in diagnostic radiology. Able to assist with clerical duties of the department. Computer literacy attainable Match appropriate paperwork for interpretation. Charge radiographic procedures, able to modify orders. Understands and uses PACS systems. Conduct scheduling and coordination of patient flow for work area or shift Provide education and training to affiliated radiology technology student programs Assist with patient transportation as necessary Maintain effective communication with all levels of supervision and staff Participate in staff meetings and in-services as required. Must be willing and able to take extra shifts as needed which may include night, holidays and weekends. Will work 1 or 2 assigned holidays (8 hour shifts) Typical Physical Demands: This position requires the ability tomove about the facility in the care of patients and moving of equipment. Mustbe able to bend to the floor and reach overhead, balance, climb, lift, push,pull, walk, stand, crouch, twist and turn while obtaining equipment andsupplies or in assisting in patient cares involving walking or positioning.Verbal and auditory acuity sufficient for over the telephone reporting ofpatient condition reports, hearing patients' verbal requests and auditoryequipment alarms. Vision must be correctable to view computer screens and readprinted information. Specific vision abilities required by the job includeclose vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability toadjust focus. Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts andother conversations.
