Job Description

Join a dynamic healthcare team in the Pacific Northwest region as a Respiratory Therapist providing compassionate, patient-centered care on a PRN day shift basis. This role involves delivering a full range of respiratory services under physician orders, including oxygen and aerosol therapies, advanced airway management, arterial puncture and analysis, ECGs, and mechanical ventilation for adult and geriatric patients. Job Summary As a Respiratory Therapist, you will plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory therapy effectiveness, collaborating closely with providers and interdisciplinary teams. Your expertise will help restore pulmonary function, alleviate pain, and support life through various therapeutic interventions and equipment management. Key Responsibilities Provide timely and compassionate respiratory care, assessing patient needs and interpreting test results to develop treatment plans. Administer medically prescribed respiratory therapies, including bronchopulmonary drainage and breathing exercises. Monitor patient responses to therapy, adjusting treatments as necessary. Supervise respiratory therapy aides and technicians, ensuring safe and effective equipment use. Participate in discharge planning and educate patients and caregivers on home respiratory care and equipment. Contribute to policy development, protocol implementation, and staff training within the respiratory therapy department. Education and Experience Associate degree from a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Minimum of two years of acute care respiratory therapy experience. Licenses and Certifications Current unrestricted respiratory care practitioner license in the state of Washington. Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required upon hire; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required within one year. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of hire. Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of respiratory care theories and clinical skills. Ability to assess and tailor treatments for patients across all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations. Proficiency with respiratory therapy equipment and home care devices. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with healthcare teams and patients. Competence in electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and exercise sound judgment. Physical Requirements Role involves frequent lifting and carrying of equipment up to 35 lbs, standing, walking, bending, and occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Vision, hearing, and speech must be within normal range with or without corrective devices. Work Environment This position offers 12-hour shifts on a PRN basis within a supportive and collaborative healthcare setting in the Pacific Northwest region.
