The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Huntingdon is seeking a motivated Corrections Water Treatment Plant Foreman. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Corrections Water Treatment Plant Foreman, you will oversee inmate workers as well as the operation and maintenance of a 1.2 million gallon capacity water treatment plant. You will use solid knowledge and communication skills while working hands-on with inmates learning the standard principles of water treatment plant maintenance. This will include: Operating and servicing motors, pumps, valves, water softeners, chemical feeders, chlorinators, filters, flow records, controllers, and related water treatment equipment Performing sampling and chemical testing of pH levels, purity, clarity, and biochemical oxygen demand levels Ensuring acceptable potability and safety standards for human consumption and environmental protection Scheduling inmate work activities and reviewing work for adherence to established procedures and guidelines Training inmates to operate and maintain water treatment equipment Evaluating inmate performance and supervising plant activities Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with rotating days off. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant. Special Requirements: You must possess a valid certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a water treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than a Class C with subclasses 1, 7, 8, and 11. You must possess a valid Class E certificate issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators. You must possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
