Make a Meaningful Difference in Someone’s Life At MD Choice Hospice, we believe that no one should walk their final journey alone. Our volunteers play an essential role in bringing comfort, connection, and companionship to patients and their families. We are seeking compassionate, reliable individuals who feel called to serve others in a deeply meaningful way. As a Hospice Companion Volunteer, you will provide emotional support and companionship to patients by simply being present—offering a listening ear, gentle conversation, or a peaceful sense of comfort. No medical experience is required. Your time, empathy, and kindness are the greatest gifts you can give. What You’ll Do as a Volunteer Volunteers may support patients in a variety of ways, depending on comfort level and patient needs. Responsibilities may include: Providing companionship through conversation, storytelling, or quiet presence Reading aloud to patients (books, scripture, poetry, etc.) Offering emotional comfort and reassurance Playing soft music or sharing calming activities Assisting patients with letter writing or sharing memories Sitting bedside for companionship support Providing brief social visits to brighten a patient’s day Communicating visit notes or concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator Who We’re Looking For We welcome volunteers who are: Compassionate, patient, and understanding Respectful of diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures Able to maintain confidentiality Comfortable spending quiet, meaningful time with patients Reliable and committed to serving with integrity
