Job Description: Wichita, KS This position is designed to develop individuals who want to become DOT drivers but do not have the required license or tractor/trailer experience. A primary requirement of this program is that the individual must obtain a CDL-Permit within two months of entering into the program. Upon successful completion of the driver training program, the expectation is to promote the trainee to a DOT Route Service AssociateMust learn to be proficient in performing delivery duties while maintaining a good safety record.Must have a sense of urgency while learning to deliver product along assigned routes consisting of multiple stops with various levels of difficultyMust be able to read customer invoices to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed and deliveredMust be able to learn to use electronic equipment such as Xata on board computer and hand held scannersMust learn and adhere to the rules which are governed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety AdministrationMust learn to maintain accuracy of delivered product with no damage due to mishandlingObey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation proceduresMust learn how to conduct safety inspection of vehicle in compliance with DOT and FMCSR guidelines and learn to check fluid levels daily, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper/safe working conditionMust learn to articulate and report all mechanical problems encountered with vehiclesLearn to maintain records such Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports and Driver Hours of Service Logs in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier RegulationsReport delays, accidents or other traffic and transportation situations to transportation managementMust become proficient with Smith Systems Defensive Driver Training Job Qualifications: Commitment to Ben E. Keith. We use dash cameras which leverage artificial intelligence to recognize safe driving, capture safety events and improve driver safety performance. The videos are also used to exonerate drivers in accidents. All drivers sign a driver consent form upon hire to confirm their understanding. Ben E.
