Essential Functions Essential Functions as outlined in Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer. Works autonomously. Exercises independent judgment with broadly defined practices and policies in obtaining results. Work is stated in terms of objectives requiring planning and judgment. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. Performs work of a diverse scope, where data requires evaluation of various factors. Has extensive breadth and depth of knowledge in a field of specialization and working knowledge of other fields. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Innovative in nature and contributes new product ideas. Progressively increases contributions and impact to the team and projects. Has critical project technical leadership responsibility; may plan or lead work assignments for lower-level engineers and technicians. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Guiding and coaching junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement Owning major architectural decisions and contributes to long-term technical vision. Develop and maintain Yocto builds including writing and maintaining recipes, layers, and configuration files. Proficiency in Linux shell scripting and command-line tools Experience with Linux-based application development, deployment, and maintenance Manages software projects adhering to internal ISO standards. Has knowledge of the business side and contributes to strategic decisions. Education & Experience Minimum of a bachelor's degree in software engineering, in field related to specific position. Advanced engineer with 8+ years of career experience, with bachelor's degree in software engineering or 6+ years with master's degree. Or experience in lieu of education. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated advanced and specialized knowledge in software engineering disciplines relevant to the position, with recognized technical expertise as identified by department leadership. Trained in the use of C, C++, and Linux kernal development, with the ability to apply these languages across complex, large-scale systems. Advanced proficiency in Linux shell scripting and command-line tools, including automation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Extensive experience with Linux-based application development, deployment, and maintenance in production environments. Strong ability to apply software design theory and methodology to architect scalable, maintainable, and robust systems. Demonstrated ability to lead technical problem analysis and apply advanced problem-solving techniques to complex and ambiguous challenges. High level of customer service skills, with the ability to translate customer and business needs into effective technical solutions. Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques is preferred, with the ability to integrate software solutions into manufacturing or production environments. Proficient with computer systems and productivity tools, including Microsoft Word and Excel, to support documentation, analysis, and reporting. Self-motivated team player who works with minimal supervision, provides technical leadership, and collaborates effectively across teams and disciplines.
