We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Engineering with a deep understanding of ad systems and the ads domain to lead our ad serving engineering team. As the Senior Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and optimization of our ad serving infrastructure, ensuring seamless delivery of targeted ads to our users. Hundreds of people strong, with a substantial presence in five countries, the Global Ads P&E team is a dynamic and complex organization, operating across a broad spectrum of product and strategic domains. Leadership and Strategy: Provide strong technical leadership and strategic direction to the ad serving engineering team, driving innovation, and guiding the development of cutting-edge ad serving solutions. Define the long-term vision and roadmap for our ad serving infrastructure to maximize revenue generation and user engagement Technical Expertise: Possess a strong knowledge of ad systems, ad targeting, ad formats, and the overall ads domain. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure our ad serving capabilities remain at the forefront of the industry Team Management: Build and nurture a high-performing engineering team. Provide mentorship, guidance, and career development opportunities to engineers. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes creativity, learning, and knowledge sharing Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, data science, and business teams to understand ad serving requirements, gather feedback, and translate business objectives into technical strategies. Work closely with operations teams to ensure reliable and scalable ad serving operations Technical Execution: Oversee the end-to-end development lifecycle of ad serving systems, including architecture design, implementation, testing, and deployment. Ensure high-quality code, scalability, and performance optimization. Drive continuous improvement in system reliability, latency, and data accuracy Data-Driven Approach: Utilize data analytics and insights to optimize ad targeting, user segmentation, and campaign performance. Leverage data-driven decision-making to enhance ad delivery algorithms and improve user experience Strong background in engineering leadership, with a minimum of 6 years of leadership experience in ad serving or related domains Typically requires a minimum 15 years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree, or 12 years and a Master's degree, or a PhD with 7 years experience Deep knowledge of ad systems, including ad serving platforms, ad exchanges, header bidding, real-time bidding (RTB), and programmatic advertising Proven experience in managing and scaling large-scale fault tolerant ad serving infrastructures Proficiency in software development methodologies, coding languages (such as Java, Go), and modern frameworks Familiarity with data analytics, machine learning, and AI technologies related to ad serving is highly desirable Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and present technical concepts to non-technical audiences Experience building and leading high performance teams of 15-30 engineers Experience leading and providing direction to geographically distributed teams Join our dynamic team and be part of revolutionizing the way ads are served to our users.
