This position reports to the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety and will work in the Katy, Texas office. As a EHS Safety Engineering Intern on the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team, you will be involved in meaning work and hands on experiences such as... Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Assisting with reviewing and updating Lockout Tagout (LOTO) procedures for molding machines and auxiliary equipment, focusing on energy isolation verification, procedural clarity, and documentation standardization to support safe maintenance and operations. Project Measurables Percentage of molding machines and auxiliary equipment reviewed and documented Number of LOTO procedures updated, standardized, and approved Number of procedural gaps or inconsistencies identified and corrected Completion of equipment verification walkthroughs with Maintenance and EHS On-time completion of project milestones and final deliverables Anticipated Output of Project Process Improvement Standardized, accurate Lockout Tagout procedures across molding and auxiliary equipment Improved clarity and usability of procedures for maintenance and service tasks Stronger alignment between EHS, Engineering, and Maintenance practices Cost Reduction / Elimination of Waste Reduced rework caused by incomplete or outdated procedures Reduced risk of equipment damage or unplanned downtime during maintenance Lower potential exposure to regulatory findings or corrective actions Risk Reduction / Operational Reliability Reduced risk of unexpected energization and serious injury Improved compliance with OSHA energy control requirements Increased confidence in machine safety processes across operations General Responsibilities Assist with reviewing and updating Lockout Tagout (LOTO) procedures for molding machines and auxiliary equipment Participate in equipment walkthroughs with EHS, Maintenance, and Engineering to identify energy sources and isolation points Support the standardization and organization of LOTO documentation and templates Verify procedure accuracy through field validation and feedback from Maintenance and Operations Document findings, gaps, and improvement opportunities related to energy control procedures Support EHS with compliance activities, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives Maintain accurate records and track project progress against defined milestones Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams while working in a manufacturing environment What do we offer? The ideal candidate for this role shall have the following qualification and experiences: Must be a current student or recent graduate of a university or college. Minimum of a rising sophomore level. Coursework related to the internship role, such as: Safety Engineering or Occupational Safety & Health Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering Engineering Technology or closely related technical disciplines Ability and willingness to work in a manufacturing environment, including time spent on the production floor Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) To be successful in this role, we believe that you possess the following skills, competencies & characteristics: Technical Skills: Basic proficiency Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to review and organize technical documents and follow written procedures. Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, engineering drawings, or technical diagrams is a plus. Analytical Skills: Ability to observe equipment and processes, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and document findings accurately. Strong attention to detail when reviewing safety procedures and energy control steps. Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication skills. Ability to ask questions, gather information from Maintenance and Operations personnel, and summarize findings effectively. Telework & Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including EHS, Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations personnel, and summarize findings effectively. Adaptability & Initiative: Willingness to learn new concepts, adapt to changing priorities, and work both independently and with supervision in a hands-on setting.
