Class A CDL Driver (Hazmat)

CDL Driver (Hazmat) Non-Exempt Reports To: Operations Manager Festus, MOPVS DX, Inc, is a nationwide manufacturer and distributor of compressed gases and other water treatment chemicals. We are a safety conscious employer: the safety, security and welfare of fellow workers, the community and the environment are our #1 priority. Our drivers are responsible for the safe preload and transport of chemicals and/or compressed gases in cargo tank trucks & liquid bulk tankers to and from loading plant to terminal yard. Safe pre and post inspections, yard checks, equipment maintenance and documentation, etc. Other duties may be assigned. CompetenciesKnowledge of: DOT and FMCSA Regulations for Hazardous and Non-Hazardous materials Safe loading and unloading of liquid bulk and packaged liquid hazmat Shipping papers (Manifest/Bills of Lading) Placarding & Labeling Emergency Response Information Personal Protective Equipment First Aid for Exposure Air Brake Systems Safe Work Practices U. S. Department of Transportation regulations covering drivers and the shipping of hazardous materials Hours of Service Lift gate operation Crane operation Load securement Skill in: Defensive Driving Roll Stability Control Braking Control Backing and Docking Connection/Disconnection of Hoses & Coupling Gauging & Measurement Manual Transmission Pre and Post Transfer Checks Tanker, flatbed and straight truck operation Ability to: Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy hoses, cylinders, equipment (often 50-75 lbs. or more) during loading, unloading and maintenance task Loads and unloads cargo tanks, performing appropriate actions in the proper sequence Frequently exerts forces equivalent to lifting, up to 25 pounds or occasionally 50 pounds May sit for long periods of time while driving Prepares driver's logs and other transportation documents Works alone most of the normal workday Works with delivery deadlines Observes and responds promptly to changing conditions, such as traffic, weather, and road conditions Visually inspects vehicles, loaded materials and unloading facilities at customer locations Read and understand training materials Wear required safety equipment Provide quick reaction or immediate response to required situations Cooperate and get along with co-workers and customer representatives Must be adaptable; job duties may change based on evolving products, commercial vehicle units, and overall plant needs Work environment: Excessive Noise Extreme Hot and Cold Temperatures Traffic and weather conditions Hazardous materials, such as flammable liquids, corrosive materials and compressed gases Work irregular hours, 12+ Hour shifts Physical demands: Standing Walking Bending Stooping Climbing Reaching Lifting regularly Travel required: HOME DAILY Travel to other plants may be required based on business needs Attendance: Drivers are expected to report to work on time and to work overtime or irregular hours, as needed, to meet customer needs General Company policies regarding attendance, vacation, and leaves of absence apply. Required education and experience High school diploma or equivalent Minimum age 25 Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements Required Ability to Operate a Manual Transmission Tractor Required Two years' verifiable experience operating a Commercial Tractor Trailer Required Clear FMCSA Clearinghouse and satisfactory MVR & PSP (Good Driving Record) Required Ability to operate commercial vehicles across state lines Required Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical Required Reliable transportation Required Stable employment history Required Occasional travel to other plants may be required based on business needs Must be able to work nights, weekends, and an extended workweek-overnight and/or out of town travel may be required Must have some mechanical and electrical aptitude Must have a professional appearance and demeanor Ability to work in extreme weather conditions Must be able to use three points of access getting in and out of the tractor, multiple times a day Ability to work well under pressure in a team environment and get along with others Strong customer service skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task, manage time, organize, and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment Must be adaptable; job duties may change based on evolving products, commercial vehicle units, and overall plant needs Benefits: Competitive salary commensurate with experience Medical Insurance (low premium/low deductible) Dental (free to the employee) 401(k) Company match $0.50 on the dollar, up to 6% of your eligible compensation 10 paid holidays each year Company paid life insurance Tuition reimbursement PTO The hiring process typically takes 2 to 3 weeks to complete.
