We are a 501(c)(3) charitable not-for-profit corporation here in New York and looking for a committed Chief Financial Officer who shares our vision and is eager to contribute to the short-term and long-term growth of our organization. This is an unpaid position and the amount of time required for this role is minimal, under 5 hours per week in the short term. Let's grow and make a lasting difference together. Responsibilities: Assume full responsibility for the corporation's funds and securities. Ensure all funds are deposited in the corporation's name in banks, trust companies, credit unions, or other depositories as selected by the board of directors. Receive and provide receipts for all monies due to the corporation, regardless of the source. Oversee and authorize the disbursement of the corporation's funds as directed by the board, ensuring proper documentation for each transaction. Maintain comprehensive and accurate accounts of all the corporation’s business activities, including assets, liabilities, receipts, disbursements, gains, and losses. Ensure transparency by making the books of account and financial records available to any director or their representative upon request. Regularly update the president and directors on transactions and the financial status of the corporation upon request. Prepare and certify financial statements for inclusion in mandatory reports. Fulfill all roles and responsibilities associated with the treasurer's office. Comply with all legal requirements, the corporation's articles of incorporation, and bylaws. Execute additional tasks as assigned by the board of directors from time to time. Requirements: A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance or accounting Good experience as Treasurer/CFO of a small 501(c)(3) non-profit would be preferred. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred Experience in corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, and risk management. Prior experience in a leadership role, preferably in the non-profit sector. Strong knowledge of financial regulations, laws, and standards. Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
