American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Kansas City, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 03/02/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Telemetry position requiring a compact or MO RN license and 2 years of recent specialty experience. Responsibilities Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a patient ratio of 1:5 Care for adult patients with cardiac, neuro, endocrine/metabolic, gastrointestinal, renal, orthopedic, plastic, and respiratory conditions Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-cardiac procedures, IV therapy, central line care, and wound care Night shifts (3x12 hours), 18:45–07:15 with required weekend shifts (8 weekend shifts per 6-week period) Regular floating required to all MS/Tele, neuro stepdown, ER holding, and within all MSI units based on facility need Epic EMR system used, with pre-start EMR modules required First-time travelers are accepted for this position Responsibilities include post-procedure cardiac patient care, handling emergencies, administering medications including cardiac drips, and managing complex multi-system patients Holiday shifts and charge nurse assignments may be required as needed by the unit Maximum of 7 days of requested time off allowed Drug screening and completion of required modules are part of the pre-employment process Pre-start and orientation modules, including Epic, infusion pump and glucometer training, must be completed before starting No local candidates accepted (must reside more than 75 miles away) No travel partners accepted for this assignment Tenure policy requires at least a 3-month break in service after 18 months in a travel role at this facility Requirements Active MO or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience in PCU or related Tele areas, with at least 1 year in specialty within the past 12 months and no employment gap over 90 days in the past year Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, administer IV therapies, and operate cardiac monitoring equipment Two professional references required, one from a supervisor (within the past year) Must live at least 75 miles from the facility Pending licenses are not accepted Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-665427.
