Job Description

GasTech Engineering is seeking a skilled Instrument & Electrical Technician to support the proper operation and control of our equipment and systems. This role is responsible for executing all I&E tasks required to build, wire, route, shield, connect, and terminate electrical assemblies in alignment with engineering documentation and GasTech quality standards. The Instrument & Electrical Technician role requires a strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation practices, as well as the ability to perform hands-on installation, wiring, and system verification tasks. Key responsibilities include: Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings. Performing point-to-point wiring for both power and control systems. Installing instruments, actuators, controllers, electrical panels, and related components. Running conduit, wire trays, supports, and completing associated mechanical routing tasks. Terminating twisted-pair wiring, multi-conductor cables, potted assemblies, and Okonite wiring. Conducting full electrical and panel checks to ensure correct installation and functionality. Performing controls and communication checks to verify system performance. Running pneumatic control tubing for instrumentation and control systems. Working in compliance with applicable electrical Codes and GasTech standards. Planning ahead, organizing daily work, and contributing to efficient workflow on the production floor. Making sound, accurate decisions when troubleshooting or resolving installation issues. Maintaining a high level of speed and accuracy when completing job duties. Upholding professional housekeeping practices and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Demonstrating safe work habits at all times. Maintaining a very low rate of wiring errors or repairs. Showing reliable attendance and punctuality. Demonstrating a positive, cooperative attitude and strong teamwork skills. Requirements High school diploma or GED is required. Advanced electrical and controls automation proficiency within process piping and pressure equipment manufacturing is required. Successful completion of a qualified electrical test, along with the appropriate level of experience for the role, is required. Vocational training in electrical or controls disciplines is preferred. Familiarity with NEC and UL/CSA Codes is preferred. Experience working in an ISO 9001-certified environment is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of electrical components and controls, including PLCs, relays, motor starters, VFDs, valve actuators, communication programs, and control interfaces, is required. Professionalism, integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are required. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced environment are required. Excellent time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, are required.
