Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-driven Tanker Inspector to ensure tankers, cargo tanks, and related equipment meet all regulatory, safety, and structural integrity standards. This role plays a critical part in preventing failures, maintaining compliance, and protecting both personnel and the environment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, inspection experience, and a deep understanding of safety regulations and documentation. Key Responsibilities • Perform visual and mechanical inspections of tanker units, cargo tanks, or storage tanks • Inspect welds, valves, piping, structural components, and safety systems • Conduct or assist with pressure testing, leak testing, and thickness testing • Verify compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and industry standards • Identify defects, corrosion, cracks, or structural concerns • Document findings in detailed inspection reports • Recommend repairs, maintenance, or removal from service when necessary • Work closely with maintenance teams and management on corrective actions • Maintain inspection tools, gauges, and testing equipment • Follow all company and site-specific safety protocols Qualifications • Experience in mechanical inspection, heavy equipment, tankers, or industrial equipment • Strong knowledge of safety and compliance standards • Ability to read technical drawings and inspection criteria • Comfortable working in shop and outdoor environments • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills • Basic computer skills for reporting Preferred Certifications (not always required but HUGE plus) Depending on the type of tanks: • CTMV (Certified Cargo Tank Inspector) • API 510, 653, or 570 • NDT experience (UT, MT, PT, VT) • Welding inspection background (CWI) • DOT cargo tank inspection experience
