ABOUT THE ROLE The Cost Accountant job ensures that Cavco's End of Month reports and records are appropriately maintained in a timely and accurate manner. The Cost Accountant is a non-degreed accountant (although business degree preferred) supporting coordination of initiatives supporting plant operations. This role works independently executing process steps, conducting analysis, problem solving and delivering recommendations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provides detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting systems, applying principles of cost accounting. Plans study and gathers data to determine costs of business activity, such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. Analyzes data obtained and documents results. Excludes paraprofessional cost accounting positions. Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs. Analyzes actual manufacturing costs, and prepares periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs. Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
