The Position The Quality Inspection Technician is responsible for performing incoming and in-process inspection of components and assemblies under the direction of the Quality Lead. Technician releases incoming or in-process materials for use and initiates non-conformances for follow up and resolution. Performs a variety of task, including First Article Inspections, Receiving inspections, In-process Inspections, and equipment and fixture inspection/qualification. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Notes: Perform visual cosmetic inspections on finished goods and kits. Must have strong attention to detail and review items consistently every time. Ensure devices are shipped as quickly as possible. Looking for a go-getter with a strong work ethic and ambition to grow. Experience with Excel and Google Sheets for logging issues is essential. General computer skills required. Ability to navigate ERP systems (Fishbowl experience preferred). Work on fulfillment and kitting, involving standing and rotating with another team member. Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 20 lbs. Overtime: Tuesday-Thursday, 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM; occasional Saturdays as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Read drawings, instructions, inspection and manufacturing documentation to inspect components and assemblies used to manufacture medical devices. • Under direction of Quality Lead, select output samples and check them using appropriate methods (measuring dimensions, testing functionality, comparing to specifications etc.) • Perform inspection of in-process materials and release of assembled medical devices. • Perform First Article Inspections • Completing manufacturing and inspection documentation. • Documenting and notifying supervisor and engineering of product discrepancies. • Responsible for NCMR creation and follow up to closure. • Maintaining inspection and nonconformance records for trending analysis. • Follow cGMP and ISO requirements. • Complete equipment and fixture qualification and preventive actions under the direction of the Quality Lead. • Responsible for assisting with inventory moves within receiving inspection, MRB and tracking traceability as needed. • Maintain the receiving work area, documentation, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. Requirements • 2+ years of Quality Inspection experience in a medical device or similar regulated environment (e.g. aeronautical) • Excellent verbal communication skills • Demonstratable knowledge of GMP processes/procedures • Basic computer skills with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). • Ability to use and understand statistical sampling plans. • Ability to use and understand geometrical dimensional tolerancing • Ability to use precision measuring devices such as calipers, pin gauges, micrometer, and height gage. • Manual dexterity and hand- eye coordination needed to inspect medical devices, subassemblies and components. • Ability to perform unaided and microscopic visual inspection. • Some lifting to 40 lbs. • Capability to use equipment such as microscope, mechanical and electrical assembly tooling & fixtures, adhesive dispenser, tweezers, crimpers, cutters and hand tools. • Good teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills.
