Hybrid- Specification Writer

A leading architecture and engineering firm is seeking an experienced Specification Writer to support a diverse team of design professionals across projects in science and technology, commercial, higher education, and the performing arts. This role will lead the writing and management of architectural specifications and assist in shaping design quality through expert technical documentation and collaboration.This is a great opportunity to work in a hybrid or remote setup while contributing to award-winning design projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Responsibilities Lead specification writing and management for multiple architectural and engineering projectsDevelop and maintain company-wide master specificationsCollaborate with architects, engineers, and designers to integrate materials, systems, and constructability best practicesProvide technical guidance and participate in QA/QC reviewsResearch materials and products to ensure appropriate integration in design documentsStay current with industry standards, codes, and best practicesSupport project teams with technical advice, shop drawing reviews, and product substitution assessmentsAct as a resource for risk management related to design documentation Required Qualifications Professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction ManagementMinimum of 5 years' experience in specification development (more than 10 years highly encouraged to apply)Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsSelf-driven and able to manage multiple projects and deadlinesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project)Experience with specification software such as Speclink (preferred)Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) is a plusArchitectural license is a plus Why You Should Apply Opportunity to work on high-profile and complex design projectsHybrid or fully remote schedule flexibilityCreative, inclusive, and technically driven team cultureLong-term career growth within a nationally respected design firmNo travel, no background check, and no drug screen required Location: Madison, WI or Waukesha, WI (Hybrid)Remote Option: Available if residing in Wisconsin or Northern IllinoisTerm: Direct HireSalary Range: $60,000 - $100,000/year, depending on experienceSchedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (flex time available)Work Environment: Hybrid (in-office + work-from-home)Travel: NoneSponsorship: Not availableIf you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please contact Jaie Rogers at or call 678-802-6632.
