Position Overview: The Lead Pharmacist plays a key leadership role in overseeing second-shift operations, ensuring workflow efficiency, regulatory compliance, and timely medication delivery. This position supports and guides the pharmacy team while maintaining the highest standards of clinical accuracy and customer service. Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Operations:Support the team in ensuring the nightly run is completed and dispatched on time. Oversee second-shift workflow and confirm assigned tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. Monitor the Rx Now queue to ensure timely processing. Ensure E-kits are checked and addressed as needed. Serve as the primary point of contact for second shift and communicate issues or escalations to management. Assist with prioritizing workflow and supporting team members as needed. Ensure phone calls, messages, and internal communications are responded to promptly. Clinical & Compliance:Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and proper administration. Ensure dispensed medications are correctly prepared, verified, supplied, and labeled. Supervise the preparation and dispensing of medications. Communicate with nursing staff, physicians, and healthcare team members regarding medication-related inquiries. Make therapy recommendations to physicians and facility staff when appropriate. Investigate and resolve medication-related concerns. Maintain accurate customer databases, including medical history, clinical, and laboratory data. Qualifications:Active Pharmacist license with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (required) Prior Long-Term Care experience preferred. Previous second-shift or leadership experience preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. High attention to detail. Ability to work independently, accurately, and efficiently. Team-oriented mindset. Computer literate; knowledge of FrameworkLTC system a plus.
