Job Title: Microbiology Technician Location: Allentown, PA 18106, USA Duration: 6 Months Contract Rate: Depends on experience Shift: 4 x 10-hr shift (Tuesday-Friday or Wednesday-Saturday), starting at 11am until daily sample processing completion Anticipated Overtime: 3-5 hrs per week Job Description: We are looking for a Entery level Microbiology Technician in Allentown, PA. Your mission will be to: Main Activities: Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending Label plates for tracking client and sample numbers Pipette sample solutions into tubes or plates according to analysis procedures Pour agar into plates or tubes to initiate growth Place plates in the incubator under specified time and temperature conditions Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as needed Ensure readiness of media and materials for subsequent testing sequences Maintain proficiency in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for job tasks Set up necessary equipment and materials for analysis Interpret plates and tubes to determine microorganism concentrations Support corporate quality and continuous improvement initiatives Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment, adhering to cleaning schedules Adhere to all safety policies and procedures Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the management system Perform other related duties as required Knowledge: Associates degree or equivalent work experience, with at least 1 year of relevant work experience Basic knowledge of science for accurate testing and result interpretation Familiarity with basic computer operations for data entry and result recording Understanding of laboratory safety procedures and policies Planning skills to manage analysis materials and meet deadlines Required Skills: Strong time management skills to prioritize samples and tasks in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail and analytical skills for precise analysis and result determination General knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Physical dexterity for handling and manipulating samples Ability to discern slight variations in color shades Work Environment: Laboratory setting with controlled lighting and temperature Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials Safety equipment including gloves, laboratory coat, and eyeglasses required Regular use of autoclave for analysis processes Regular lifting of analysis materials up to 50 pounds Extended periods of standing required
