POSITION TITLE: Multi-Skilled Technician I DEPARTMENT: Building Maintenance DIVISION: Business POSITION REPORTS TO: Multi Skilled Technician Lead REPORTING TO THIS POSITION: Student workers EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION: Staff, Full-Time, Non-Exempt, 12 month (2080 annual hours) POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The position provides hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair in a variety of skilled trades. Coordinates with other staff and outside contractors to ensure timely completion of repairs. This is an essential emergency position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Perform maintenance level work in a variety of skilled trades. Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair routine failures and deficiencies in buildings and building systems. Assist other staff and contractors as needed. Perform work in support of renewal and improvement projects to keep facilities in top condition and to accommodate departmental needs. Assist with coordinating contractors and others as needed. Assists with creating, scheduling, managing and performing preventive maintenance tasks. Other functions include: Select and purchase routine materials and supplies with assistance as needed Assist with scheduling and coordinating outside contractors Coordinate work with other campus service departments Supervise and train assigned student workers Serve on rotating on-call schedule providing after-hours emergency support Assist with snow removal when needed. QUALIFICATIONS: High school degree or GED Completion of trades school or apprenticeship program preferred Journey level skills in at least one discipline Good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Self-motivated and dedicated to quality customer service Ability to read and understand work orders, basic drawings and sketches Ability to use computers, tablets, smart phones, and a variety of software. Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio driver license Must possess and maintain (or acquire within a set time) various licenses and certifications required to perform tasks assigned. REQUIRED PHYSICAL/MENTAL ABILITIES: Work requires routine application of several established procedures and practices where basic analytic ability is required. Questions or situations outside of the established procedures and practices are referred to a supervisor. Heavy work; considerable physical exertion required, occasional lifting or carrying of objects (up to 100 pounds) and regular lifting or carrying of objects up to 50 pounds. Frequent exposure to extreme levels of temperature, air pollution, noise, chemical substances or hazardous conditions. Work requires using a number of hand and power tools, gauges and instruments where the seeing job is within arm's reach. This would also include the ability to operate motor vehicles involved in transportation to and from the various job sites. Climbing, balancing, lifting, reaching, stooping, grasping, repetitive motions, pushing, pulling, talking, and hearing. ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS: Routine discomforts such as moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness, or noise.
