Job Summary At Catholic Charities of Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton Counties, every team member plays an essential role in advancing our mission to serve vulnerable individuals and families with compassion and dignity. In our Medical Department, you will work within a mission-driven environment dedicated to serving the poor and underserved by providing much-needed healthcare services to individuals without insurance, while also welcoming patients with all insurance types. Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care under the direction of the Health Center Providers which includes taking and recording accurate patient vitals and medical histories. Administering EKGs, injections/immunizations for both children and adults, visual and audio tests, chaperoning during sensitive exams, assisting the provider during minor procedures. Appropriately chart all necessary patient information in the EMR. Identify critically ill patients who need immediate attention and inform a provider. Assist providers with patient follow-up and other necessary tasks in the best interest of the patient. Keep all exam rooms stocked and clean. Ability to use all aspects of Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR). Have complete working knowledge and understanding of the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program. Deal with all paperwork in appropriate fashion (scanning, filing, faxing, etc.) Prepare and run point-of-care lab tests accurately. Obtain all patient communication and direct to appropriate parties according to timelines set by clinic protocol. Prepare and administer vaccines correctly based on the vaccine's indications. Assist front desk with receptionist duties as needed, for example: answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking patients in and out, and more. Performs all other duties as assigned. Responsible to the Family Health Center Office Manager, Lead Medical Assistant, and Medical Director. Qualifications Excellent patient relations skills including strong verbal and written communication Ability to work a flexible schedule between 7:45 am and 5:30 pm. (Approximately 32 hours per week with possibility of up to 40 hours per week) Critical thinking and problem-solving skills Compassionate and able to work with clients from various backgrounds Medical knowledge to understand medical procedures and medical language Ability to multitask and work well in a team Ability to work well under pressure Fluent in English Must act in an ethical manner, in compliance with all CCIEC policies and relevant laws. Must be proficient in obtaining newborn, infant, and toddler's vital signs. Must be comfortable administering injections/immunizations for any/all children as assigned.
