Position Type: Transportation/Clerical Date Posted: 2/11/2026 Location: Transportation Date Available: 02/23/2026 Closing Date: Until Filled Primary Job Functions: The Transportation Operations Administrative Assistant supports the daily operations of the Transportation Department by coordinating extracurricular trip logistics, securing substitute drivers and aides, providing administrative and customer service support, and ensuring accurate payroll processing for transportation staff. This position maintains essential records, assists employees with payroll inquiries. Salary Lane: Hourly pay starting at $22.25. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Assigned Workday Calendar: 261 Days (Year-Round) Job Status: Full-Time - 40 Hours per Week Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. / Occasional evening hours during peak operational periods Benefits: Full-time positions are eligible for medical, dental insurance as well as supplemental benefits such as vision, life insurance, disability, etc. Eligible for PERF Retirement. Paid Time Off Benefits: Eligible Holiday Pay: Eligible Qualifications:Education: High school diploma or equivalent Certification: None required Experience: Experience in a school transportation department preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft office software, data entry, and electronic time keeping systems Skills and Knowledge: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information, Ability to work collaboratively with staff, administrators, and external partners, Customer service skills with the ability to respond professionally to employee inquiries. Essential Functions:Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality to support daily transportation operations. Coordinates and processes all extracurricular trip requests, including securing substitute drivers and aides and communicating accurate route information. Provides administrative support to the Transportation Office, including answering phones, assisting with office operations, and serving as a substitute receptionist when required. Manages transportation staff mailboxes and distributes incoming correspondence, updating assignments as staffing changes occur. Reviews, audits, and maintains transportation timesheets and payroll-related records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards. Processes and uploads biweekly timesheets for hourly staff, coordinating adjustments with school buildings as necessary. Supports payroll operations by preparing required documentation, responding to employee payroll inquiries, and processing manual stipends or special payrolls as assigned. Comply with all Avon Community School Corporation policies, guidelines, procedures, and protocols. Participate in professional development, as assigned. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
