Snapshot / Role Overview We're seeking a Structural Steel Estimator in Pittsburgh, PA to prepare cost estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection projects. Impact • Drive competitive bidding through accurate cost analysis • Support business growth through strategic estimating • Ensure project profitability through thorough scope review • Build client relationships through professional proposals Responsibilities • Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel projects • Perform takeoffs from structural drawings and specifications • Coordinate with fabrication shop on pricing and capacity • Review erection sequences and crane requirements • Analyze subcontractor pricing for miscellaneous metals • Prepare bid proposals and presentations • Track historical costs and productivity rates • Support project teams during buyout phase Requirements Must-Haves • 7+ years of structural steel estimating experience • Strong knowledge of steel fabrication and erection • Proficiency with estimating software and takeoff tools • Experience estimating projects $5M+ in value • Excellent communication and negotiation skills Nice-to-Haves • Engineering degree or technical training • AISC certification or training • Experience with design-build delivery • Knowledge of crane operations and rigging Compensation & Logistics Competitive salary depending on experience; benefits include health insurance, PTO, and holidays.
