LER TechForce is looking for a Contract Quality Engineer with manufacturing and laser welding exposure. Job Title: Contract Quality Engineer Location: On-site in Columbus, OH Duration: Until June 2026. Job Summary The Contract Quality Engineer will support manufacturing and product quality initiatives by ensuring compliance with customer requirements, internal standards, and regulatory guidelines. This role focuses on problem-solving, process improvement, and driving corrective actions to maintain high-quality standards throughout production. The position requires expertise in laser welding, ISO 13919-2 compliance, critical adhesives, assembly processes, and advanced data analysis techniques. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain quality plans, control plans, and inspection standards. Support PPAP submissions and customer quality documentation. Ensure compliance with ISO 13919-2 standards for laser welding and validate welding processes. Oversee application and performance of critical adhesives in assembly processes. Monitor and validate assembly processes, including torque control and correct component assembly inclusive of weld masking and part positioning. Lead investigations for non-conformances and implement corrective/preventive actions using A3 problem-solving methodology. Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements. Collaborate with supplier quality team on quality issues found to be supplier quality caused and drive resolution and ensure containment is in place at the plant. Conduct detailed measurements on components and assemblies and review measurement data against full layout inspections to identify trends and statistically incapable processes. Convert raw measurement files into usable reports and analyze results to detect process capability issues using Minitab. Converting measurement data into first article like reports that can be used by the cross functional team. Prepare reports summarizing findings, trends, and improvement opportunities for management and stakeholders. Interfaces between engineering and the plant to control the quality of the product. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, PPAP, APQP. Experience with laser welding processes and ISO 13919-2 compliance. Understanding of critical adhesive applications and performance requirements. Familiarity with assembly processes including torque control and proper component assembly and placement. Proficiency in A3 problem-solving methodology. Proficiency in quality tools (FMEA, Control Plans SPC, MSA, 8D). Proficiency in Minitab and ability to convert raw measurement data into actionable reports. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Preferred Skills Experience with automotive manufacturing and experience with battery assembly and test. Familiarity with VDA 6.3 audits. Knowledge of ERP and quality management systems. CQE or Six Sigma certification is a plus. #LI-MC1
