Procurement Specialist Location: Maryland Heights, MO Pay: $32-35 / HR Contract to Hire On behalf of our client, a global pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) specializing in drug delivery systems, we are seeking a Procurement Specialist to join their team. The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing and procuring both production and non-production materials necessary to support plant operations. This role ensures timely and cost-effective purchasing while maintaining compliance with corporate procedures and regulatory requirements. The Procurement Specialist serves as a liaison between internal departments and suppliers to resolve quality, specification, and performance issues and plays a key role in supplier performance management and diversity initiatives. Key Responsibilities Review and process purchase requisitions to ensure materials meet specifications, pricing, and delivery requirements. Issue purchase orders and ensure compliance with corporate procurement procedures. Monitor calibration orders and maintain open order reports for inventory and non-inventory purchases. Manage blanket and standing orders, including renewals, spend summaries, vendor pricing verification, and approval tracking. Develop Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) strategies and order point planning for repetitively purchased items. Resolve supplier performance issues, claims, and documentation deficiencies. Act as liaison between Quality and suppliers to address rejected materials, specification discrepancies, and corrective actions. Prepare Material Disposition Authorization documentation for returned goods. Ensure appropriate authorization signatures for orders and releases. Maintain accurate purchasing records within the ERP system (e.g., JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or similar). Support Government Minority Subcontracting Plan goals as a member of the Supplier Diversity Team. Keep management informed of supplier-related issues impacting cost, quality, or delivery. Perform duties in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and applicable regulatory standards. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field OR 10+ years of related procurement experience. Professional certification (e.g., APICS - Association for Supply Chain Management, CPSM - Certified Professional in Supply Management) preferred. Strong knowledge of purchasing processes, vendor relations, inventory control, and raw material lead times. Experience working cross-functionally within project teams. Technical & Professional Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ERP systems (JD Edwards EnterpriseOne preferred; SAP experience a plus). Ability to read and interpret vendor quotes, procurement reports, and procedural documents. Strong analytical and mathematical skills (rates, ratios, percentages, cost analysis).
