Wherever VOAC goes, it combines relationship-building, volunteers and quality services to lift and support our neighbor’s efforts to become self-sufficient and reach their full potential.The Volunteer Specialist is responsible for recruiting, orienting, training, and coordinating volunteers to support the Meals on Wheels program. This role ensures volunteers are effectively placed on delivery routes to maintain efficient and reliable service. The position requires consistent collaboration and communication with Aging & Nutrition Services (ANS) staff, Drivers, Program Coordinators, the Community Engagement team, and other Volunteer Specialist team members. Key functions include maintaining accurate volunteer and program data, preparing monthly reports to meet operational compliance and funding requirements. The Volunteer Specialist collectively contributes to sustaining a volunteer base of approximately 600–800 volunteers by coordinating daily assignments and supporting ongoing volunteer engagement to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate with the Volunteer Engagement Specialist to assign volunteers to open delivery routes and support efficient service delivery. Maintain regular communication and follow-ups with active and prospective volunteers to ensure engagement and continuity. Provide accurate information, assistance, and problem resolution for volunteers. Support efforts to sustain and grow a volunteer base of approximately 600–800 volunteers. Assist with volunteer recognition initiatives and engagement events. Communicate the mission, expectations, and operational concepts of the Meals on Wheels program to volunteers and stakeholders. Collaborate with the Volunteer Services Engagement team on volunteer onboarding and integration. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete volunteer records, including volunteer hours and service activities. Coordinate with the Volunteer Engagement Specialist and Senior Data Specialist to ensure data accuracy and reporting integrity. Compile, track, and analyze monthly metrics including: Volunteer hours New volunteer activity Meal delivery metrics Program performance indicators Volunteer retention Prepare required reports supporting funding, compliance, and operational monitoring. Support logging, documentation, and tracking systems used by the program. Ensure volunteer compliance with agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Maintain proactive communication with Meals on Wheels team members to support data accuracy and operational coordination. Collaborate on problem resolution affecting volunteers, routes, or service delivery. Participate in program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation activities. Collaborate with leadership and team members to identify operational improvements and efficiencies. Contribute to initiatives aimed at strengthening volunteer engagement and service delivery outcomes. Provide functional coverage for the Volunteer Engagement Specialist when needed, and vice versa. Ensure continuity of volunteer coordination, communication, and data/reporting functions during staff absences. Participate in community outreach activities including fairs, festivals, markets, and partner events to support volunteer recruitment and program visibility. Coordinate Saturday Volunteer Pickups for Meals on Wheels service. Act as backup for Volunteer Engagement Specialist Perform other duties assigned to support program operations.
