"Dedicated to Advancing, Protecting and Promoting Idaho Agriculture with a Balanced Approach to Industry and Consumers ."The Idaho State Department of Agriculture is currently recruiting for a benefited Ag. Investigator Sr. in the Plant Industries Division located in Post Falls.Key Responsibilities:Enforce state laws and ISDA rules and conduct investigations and inspections including: Phytosanitary Export Certification. (45%) Field Inspections. (10%) Nursery Inspections and License Enforcement. (5%) Feed and Fertilizer Sampling and Registration Enforcement. (25%) Pest and Disease Surveys. (10%) Quarantine Rule Enforcement Seed Enforcement under Federal and State Seed Laws/Rules. Apiary Inspections. Administrative Duties, including: (5%) Develop project reports and investigation reports for submission and approval to Program Manager, Bureau Chief, or Division Administrator as necessary. Represent ISDA in meetings with grower organizations, commodity commissions, and the general public, and interactions with the University of Idaho and other Federal or state agencies as directed by Program Manager. Provide administrative and office coverage as directed by the Program Manager. Draft correspondence as directed by the Program Manager. Develop routine reports, such as Activity, Vehicle, and financial reports and submit by due date. Maintain Required Skill Development and Non-Supervisory Employee Training Participate in Special Projects as Directed by Program Manager. A cell phone with an Idaho area code, furnished by the employee, is required for this position and is eligible for reimbursement under the Cell Phone Reimbursement policy. Responsible for ensuring all financial transactions related to your position, and those of your direct reports if applicable, are processed timely, accurately, and in accordance with ISDA’s policies and procedures. Maintain and submit appropriate documentation to Fiscal to support the purpose of and to validate all transactions, obtain required approvals, and seek prior advice and approval for non-routine transactions that are not easily defined within the ISDA’s policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: This qualification is a mandatory requirement. Experience preparing narrative reports. Specialty Qualifications: These qualifications are mandatory requirements. Good knowledge of animal feed for a variety of animals, identifying and controlling weeds, pests, plant diseases and/or propagating plants. Valid Driver's License. Desirable Qualifications: These qualifications are not required; however, if you have the related background it may increase your score. An accredited USDA/APHIS/PPQ Authorized Certification Official (ACO). Experience in plant protection regulatory activities.
