General Purpose: The Human Resources Generalist III serves as the first point of contact for HR related matters in a union plant environment. This role also serves as a liaison between the plant and corporate office on matters related to benefits and leave, payroll, regulatory compliance, and labor/employee relations. As a key member of the Corporate HR Team, this position participates in departmental activities and assists with coordination of the company's directives at the plant level. Some travel may be required. Primary Duties: Responsibilities that are requirements in order to perform the job: Administers timekeeping, payroll, paid time off, attendance, and other related tasks and reporting for the union and non-union staff Conducts recruiting activities to include reviewing applications, prescreening candidates, and coordinating interviews to fill vacant union and non-union positions Administers new hire onboarding and orientation while ensuring corresponding processes are completed in a timely manner for both union and non-union positions Administers the Collective Bargaining Agreement and facilitates the grievance process to ensure compliance with the company's contractual obligations Resolves employee and labor relations issues through investigation and problem solving, escalating issues of significance to the Corporate HR Manager or designee Facilitates and/or coordinates training, leadership, and organizational development to the workforce while maintaining accurate recordkeeping Conducts stay and exit interviews, analyzes data, and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement Participates in developing HR department goals, objectives, and process improvements Supports the open enrollment process at the plant level for both union and non-union employees with support from the corporate office Monitors unemployment and worker's compensation by reviewing claims, substantiating documentation, and responding in a timely manner Ensures legal and ethical compliance in employment and labor matters Perform other duties as assigned Supportive Functions: In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions based on business needs: Provides input and recommendations regarding company policies Assists with the preparation of the performance review process Serves as a resource for employees regarding the information and administration of the Company's group insurance benefits and leave policies Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation: Excellent organizational and prioritization skills Possess exceptional oral and written communications skills Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Ability to lead projects Education/Experience Guidelines: Bachelor's degree with concentration in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or 4 years HR Generalist experience and SHRM-SCP certification, or 5 years of HR Generalist experience required 3+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment required Labor relations in a union environment preferred Physical Demands: These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
