Accounts Payable Specialist

Accounts Payable Specialist Department: Finance Location: Elkhart, IN (Hybrid – in office with remote flexibility) Position Summary We are seeking a PART TIME detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team.  The role is requiring around 20 hours of work per week.  This person is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of vendor payments and maintaining strong financial controls. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounts payable activities while contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency. This position has a direct impact on financial accuracy, vendor relationships, and overall organizational performance. Key Responsibilities Review and verify invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment Perform invoice processing and general ledger data entry Reconcile credit card statements and bank accounts Process employee expense reports Assist with weekly, monthly, and annual financial reporting Print, prepare, and distribute checks Support finance team initiatives and cross-functional requests Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounts payable processes Maintain confidentiality and integrity in financial reporting Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations Perform other duties and special projects as assigned Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 2 years of accounts payable experience required Experience with ERP systems preferred (SAP experience a plus) Experience with automated invoice processing systems is a plus Education: High school diploma or GED required Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or related field preferred Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy Solid understanding of accounting principles Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) Excellent communication skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Problem-solving mindset Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Customer-focused approach
